Baghdad Head of the National Forces Alliance, Ammar Al-Hakim, met with a delegation of the People with Disabilities Association, headed by Muwaffaq Al-Khafaji, praising the efforts of this group in launching life messages, especially in their sporting achievements.
Al-Hakim said in a statement that disability is a handicap of thought and mind, not a handicap of the body, calling for the intensification of procedures for their integration into Iraqi society. He also stressed the need to address the legislative environment for people with disabilities, activate their own laws, and legislate laws that enable them to enjoy their rights.
At the same time, he stressed the importance of equipping institutions and streets to allow people with disabilities to live their daily lives in a normal way, also pointing to the need to develop the educational environment, modernize curricula, activate the work of institutions, and pay attention to their international days.
