Baghdad Parliament Speaker Mohammed al-Halbousi, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, met today, Thursday, with Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly.
The meeting discussed developing bilateral relations between the two countries and expanding horizons of cooperation in all fields.
Al-Halbousi praised the Egyptian leadership, government and people’s position in supporting Iraq and strengthening its political and economic relations, and its firm stance in refusing to interfere in Iraq’s internal affairs, adding that the solid pillars between the two countries have resulted in this cooperation and coordination.
He also indicated that the Iraqi parliament is keen to support cooperation and seek to achieve economic integration between the two countries, calling for the follow-up of legislation from both sides, to facilitate the implementation of agreements and the outcomes of the tripartite summit.
For his part, the Egyptian Prime Minister affirmed his country’s full support in developing its relations with Iraq and in all fields, noting that Cairo’s relations with Baghdad are based on mutual understanding, adding that the legislative and executive authorities in Egypt extend their thanks and gratitude to the Iraqi Parliament for its support for the planned development projects and their implementation in Iraq and the activation of bilateral cooperation.
