Speaker of the Parliament Salim al-Jubouri discussed with German Defense Minister Ursula von der Lin ways of cooperation in the fight against terrorism and the prosecution of terrorist gangs.
“The two sides discussed the latest security and political developments in the region, ways of cooperation in the fight against terrorism, the prosecution of terrorist gangs, the importance of developing bilateral relations and enhancing bilateral cooperation to serve the interests of the two friendly peoples,” Al-Jubouri said in a press release.
“The coordination between Iraq and the international community has led to breaking the thorn of terrorism,” he said, pointing out that “the Iraqi forces have a high level of expertise and skill in the rapid elimination and prosecution of these criminal gangs, this has made Iraq a priority in protecting the security of the region, and to weaken the attempts of the terrorist organization to target brotherly and friendly countries.
He also praised the role of Germany in standing with Iraq on the military, humanitarian and relief levels, stressing the importance of Germany’s support for Iraq to face the next stage in order to achieve stability and reconstruction.
For her part, the German Minister stressed the continuation of her country in cooperation and coordination with Iraq in the fight against terrorism and the development of relations between the two countries in various fields, praising the role of Iraqi forces in defeating Daesh and the liberation of regions and achieving stability.
