Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi mourned the death of the great Iraqi poet, Lamia Abbas Emara.
Al-Kadhimi said in a statement that the National Iraqi News Agency / NINA / received a copy of it: “With this painful death, an Iraqi palm tree will have left our world, but she left rich shadows of wonderful poetry, and an unforgettable contribution to Iraqi culture that successive generations will remember with pride and reverence.”
He added, “Lamia’a Abbas was a tallest peak of contemporary Iraqi poetry, and an achievement that Iraq and the Iraqi people are proud of, among its immortal cultural titles, which built Iraq’s prominent position in Arab culture and its rich heritage.”
He continued: “We have been directed to communicate with the family of the deceased and to provide any required support or facilities, according to their desire.”
He continued: “The good memory to the deceased, and the beautiful patience to her family, and lovers that we consider her to be the size of Iraq with all its sects and the diversity of its cultures.”
