Al-Kadhimi’s Advisor Confirms The Govt And The IHEC Commitment To Hold The Elections On Their Scheduled / More Date

Baghdad Adviser to the Prime Minister for Elections Affairs, Abdul-Hussein Al-Hindawi, confirmed the commitment of the government and the Electoral Commission to hold the elections on their scheduled date, despite all the difficult circumstances the country is going through.

Al-Hindawi said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that the Electoral Commission and the government have made more than half the way towards holding the elections on their scheduled date on the tenth of next October, as the Commission is working actively, and has completed and closed voter registration, updating records, and registration of political alliances and entities and electoral candidates.

“Forty-four electoral coalitions and entities will enter the elections, with more than 3,500 candidates and the exclusion of 120 candidates for various legal reasons,” he said.

Al-Hindawi affirmed that the government is obligated to achieve a safe environment for the elections inside and outside the polling stations, despite the difficulties.”

He pointed out that the government does not have an electoral bloc to participate in the upcoming elections, so it will work with all its efforts for the success of holding the elections on their scheduled date.
