Baghdad The religious authority, Jawad Al-Khalisi, confirmed that the matter of change in Iraq is related to the Iraqis themselves, and the Iraqi people today know the falsehood of previous allegations that promised to bring a system that creates prosperity and democracy.
This came in his political sermon for Friday prayers from al-Kadhimiya.
Commenting on the political situation in the country and preparations for the upcoming elections, Al-Khalisi said, “this farce should not remain or continue, and the matter of change is about you, Iraqis, so move and we will be with you and we will support you, and whoever wants change must move from private subjects to public matters.”
He added: The Iraqi people today know the falsity of previous allegations that promised to bring a system that creates prosperity and democracy. Today’s reality has proven the falsity of these allegations, and people have reached the stage of awareness of the truth and the falsity of deceivers has been exposed to them.
He said: If the upcoming elections differ, even if slightly, from the previous elections, we are ready to withdraw all our previous words, but we know with certainty that there is no difference, and may even be worse than the previous ones.
Al-Khalisi denounced the calls of some Islamic movements that demand a secular, not religious, civil state.
He said, “A true Muslim cannot demand a non-Islamic state, but it is not the rogue state that kills people and distorts the image of Islam. The Islamic state is the state of mercy, and the state of charity, and it is the state of security and safety that true Islam has been keen to establish that calls for the good of humanity in general.”
