Al-Maliki Assures Iranian Minister: The Upcoming Elections Will Produce A Harmonious And Capable Govt

Baghdad Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, received this evening the Iranian Minister of Intelligence and National Security, Mahmoud Alawi.

Alawi, according to a statement from al-Maliki office, offered the Iranian leadership’s condolences to Nuri al-Maliki and the Iraqi people for the tragic fire of Al-Hussein Hospital (peace be upon him) in Dhi Qar Governorate.

During the meeting, they discussed the latest political and security situation in the region, as well as the bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them to serve the two neighboring peoples.

Al-Maliki stressed that Iraq is on the verge of entering important elections that are of great interest, whether at the local, regional and international levels, and that will result in the formation of a harmonious and capable government, whose mission is to restore the prestige of the state and provide services to the citizen.

The head of the State of Law coalition praised the positions of the Islamic Republic and its support for Iraq, especially in the field of combating terrorism and Takfiri forces.

For his part, Mahmoud Alawi stressed the importance of the close relations that unite the two countries and peoples, the Iranian leadership’s support for the security and stability of Iraq, and the strengthening of bilateral cooperation and coordination in the face of terrorism and extremism and the establishment of peace in the region.
