Baghdad The Secretary-General of the Islamic Dawa Party, Nuri al-Maliki, and head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party, Massoud Barzani, stressed the importance of holding the upcoming parliamentary elections on schedule.
The two parties stated in a joint statement: “In the context of the well-established brotherly relations between the Islamic Dawa Party and the Kurdistan Democratic Party, a delegation from the Political Bureau of the Islamic Dawa Party headed by the Secretary-General of the Party, Nuri al-Maliki, visited the Kurdistan Region and met with President Massoud Barzani and a delegation from the Political Bureau of the Kurdistan Democratic Party.”
It added, “During the meeting, they discussed and exchanged views on the political situation in Iraq and the region, the dangers of terrorism and the challenges facing the political process.”
The two parties stressed the importance of holding the elections on the scheduled date of 10/10/2021 and ensuring that they are held in free, fair and just conditions, stressing the need to secure a security environment for holding the elections, preserving citizens’ voices from fraud, and respecting the will of the people.
