Al-Maliki discusses with the delegation of the Iranian Shura Council the strengthening of bilateral relations

Baghdad – Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, received a delegation from the Iranian Shura Council headed by Ibrahim Azizi and in the presence of the Iranian Ambassador to Iraq, Muhammad Kazem Al-Sadiq.

A statement from his office stated that during the meeting, developments in the political and security situation in the region were discussed, and the Zionist aggression and genocide crimes witnessed in the occupied Palestinian territories against the Palestinian people.

Al-Maliki stressed the importance of strengthening relations between Baghdad and Tehran in various fields, considering the exchange of visits and delegations between the two countries to contribute to consolidating the principle of cooperation and coordination to serve the interests of the two neighboring peoples.

The State of Law coalition also renewed Iraq’s position in support of the Palestinian cause and the necessity of stopping the aggression, protecting civilians, and bringing in humanitarian aid urgently.

The head of the State of Law coalition called on the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in stopping the genocide crimes committed by Zionist gangs against the oppressed Palestinian people.

For his part, Ibrahim Azizi affirmed his country’s desire to expand the horizons of cooperation with Iraq, and to coordinate positions on issues of concern to the Islamic peoples, most notably the Palestinian issue, and to show solidarity and stand with the Palestinian people, and to work on the necessity of stopping the war on the Gaza Strip.
