Baghdad Head of the State of Law Coalition, Nouri al-Maliki, met today, Saturday, with a delegation of the Jordanian House of Representatives, headed by Speaker Abdel Moneim al-Awdat, in the presence of a number of representatives, members of the State of Law bloc in the House of Representatives.
A statement by Al-Maliki’s office said that during the meeting, they discussed the bilateral relations that bring together the two neighboring countries and the two brotherly peoples, as well as the developments of the regional situation in the region.
Al-Maliki pointed out that the Iraqi-Jordanian relations enjoy strength and distinction, and this is a great responsibility that the two countries need to preserve.
“We have made great efforts and established and built solid relations on the basis of mutual respect and common interests,” he said.
Al-Maliki stressed that the region faces many challenges and crises, and we must all cooperate and unite in solving them, and reach towards creating political, economic and social integration, indicating that Iraq today seeks to achieve internal political harmony, and we look forward to this harmony prevailing in Iraq’s relations with its Arab brothers.
For his part, the Jordanian Parliament Speaker conveyed the greetings of His Majesty the King and the Jordanian leadership to Nouri al-Maliki, expressing his happiness at visiting Baghdad, praising the growing joint relations, and reiterating his country’s support for Iraq in maintaining its security and stability, and looking forward to strengthening economic and trade relations between the two sides.
