Baghdad Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Al-Sahaf confirmed that sending an international team to monitor the elections came in response to a one-time request from the Iraqi government.
Al-Sahhaf said in a press statement that the government stipulated the implementation of the decision in sending the international team to monitor the election to abide by the sovereignty of Iraq.
He explained that Iraq is looking forward to providing a strong and clearly announced team of the United Nations.
