Baghdad A member of the House of Representatives from Saairun Alliance, Salam Al-Shammari stressed the need to study the conscription law in detail upon its arrival in Parliament, and not to rush to reject or approve it without explaining the clear reasons for that.
Al-Shammari said in a press statement: “The return of the conscription is an important matter in accordance with the requirements of the current and future phases.”
He added: “The return to applying the law according to the current conditions of Iraq is an important step to strengthen social cohesion and the national spirit that some are trying to break with practices that are strange to the nature of Iraqi society.”
Al-Shammari explained: “Building a new generation based on the foundations of national military conscription is an important matter that Iraq needs in light of the real desire to supply the military institution with what it needs in times of crisis,” stressing the need to study the law in detail once it reaches Parliament and not rush to reject or approve it without explanation of the clear reasons for this.
