Al-Sudani chairs a meeting on the Integrated Gas Development Project, in the presence of the CEO of Total

Baghdad Prime Minister Muhammad Shia Al-Sudani chaired, today, Thursday, a meeting devoted to discussing the integrated gas development project, in the presence of the CEO of the French Total Energy Company, Patrick Pouyanne, and a number of officials in the field of oil and energy on the Iraqi side.

During the meeting, according to a statement by Al-Sudani’s office, they discussed the files of gas investment development in Iraq, and the progress of work in a number of major strategic projects in this field, the first of which was the burning gas investment project in the southern region with a capacity of (600 square meters), as well as the Artawi field development project, and the project of the joint seawater desalination, which is the projects linked to the Ministry of Oil, as well as the solar energy project linked to the Ministry of Electricity, with a capacity of 1,000 megawatts.

The Prime Minister stressed the importance of proceeding with the energy projects that the ministerial curriculum gave a special priority and importance, as it represents the future vision of the national energy sector.

He stressed the goal of achieving optimal investment of the country’s wealth of oil, gas and natural resources, and finding sources of alternative and renewable energy, instead of total dependence on fossil fuels.

Al-Sudani explained that the government aims with its projects to reduce greenhouse emissions, achieve environmentally friendly projects, meet the increasing demand for energy, and provide more job opportunities for the national workforce.

For his part, Pouyanne expressed his company’s seriousness to implement its commitments in these projects in accordance with the mechanisms of contracting with Iraq, praising the Prime Minister’s directives to overcome obstacles to completing the implementation, and the tireless efforts made in this area by the Iraqi side.
