Baghdad The leader of the National Coalition, Iyad Allawi, confirmed that the lack of a safe and stable environment for holding the elections will cause a “wide” public reluctance to participate in them, calling for remedying the obstacles and working to overcome them.
A statement from his office stated that Allawi received today the US ambassador to Iraq, Matthew Tueller, in his office, and the meeting dealt with the latest developments in the region and efforts to achieve security and stability in it and the file of the elections scheduled for next October, where Allawi expressed his fear of the increasing reluctance to participate in them due to lack of a safe and stable environment to conduct the elections independently and impartially.
Allawi stressed the need to remedy the obstacles facing the electoral process, and work to overcome them as soon as possible.
