Baghdad The US State Department has expressed Washington’s readiness to lift sanctions on Iran, including those that have nothing to do with the nuclear agreement.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Ned Price said: The American team in Vienna held consultations on Iran with our European allies and also with representatives of China and Russia, considering that the nuclear talks with Iran would be difficult for several reasons, including the lack of trust between the United States and Iran.
On Tuesday, Price described the indirect talks with Iran in Vienna as a constructive and beneficial step toward the two sides resuming compliance with the 2015 nuclear deal that Washington left three years ago.
For his part, Abbas Araghchi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister, considered that Tuesday’s talks in Vienna were constructive, but he rejected any proposal to free one billion dollars of Iran’s frozen funds in exchange for reducing the level of uranium enrichment.
