Baghdad The Security Media Cell announced that it had thwarted an attempt to smuggle (17) tons of medicines.
The Cell stated in a statement: “The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency continues its operations to follow up the elements of organized crime, and in the interest of the citizen’s health security, as it managed to thwart an attempt to bring in (17) tons of smuggled medicines coming from one of the provinces towards Baghdad.
It added: “These medicines are not subject to examination and quality control by the Ministry of Health, and the seizure process came in one of the Baghdad checkpoint, after receiving accurate information about the smuggling attempt and the setting up of a tight ambush, which resulted in the arrest of the owner of the vehicle, and legal measures were taken against him fundamentally.”
