BaghdadThe specialist in economic affairs, Dergham Muhammad Ali, confirmed that there are no international solutions to the Security Council regarding water disputes, and the evidence is the Egyptian-Ethiopian conflict over the Renaissance Dam.

In a statement to “NINA”, Muhammad Ali said: “Solutions to such files are represented by soft powers through media pressure, focusing on bilateral relations, and using the files of trade exchange and remittances as negotiating tools within the frameworks of an equal dialogue.”

He pointed out, “The complaint to the Security Council on water issues has never produced any solutions, and that Iraq has important economic keys that push the water negotiations in a more positive way than the inclusion of international parties that do not want good, neither for Iraq nor for upstream countries alike.”

The Minister of Water Resources, Mahdi Rashid Al-Hamdani, had threatened to resort to the international community because Iran had completely cut off water sources from Iraq, which caused a severe drought crisis and harmed agriculture in Iraq.
