An Economic Expert to / NINA /: The Ministry of Planning’s estimates of the population of Iraq in 2030 at 50 million are random and inaccurate

Baghdad The Expert in Economic Affairs, Raad Twaij, described the recent estimates of the Ministry of Planning, which estimated the population of Iraq in 2030 at 50 million people, according to random and inaccurate estimates.

Twaig said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that “the recent estimates of the Ministry of Planning, which estimate the population in Iraq in 2030 at 50 million, are still based on random and inaccurate estimates as a result of the lack of a general census of the population for several decades, and therefore the estimate is random and an outcome that cannot be relied upon. It is not without unexpected numbers.”

He pointed out that “the significant increase in the population in a country such as Iraq may have a significant impact on increasing the level of poverty as a result of the poor human development followed, the increase in the rate of the family in Iraq, which may reach an average of 5-6 individuals, which increases the level of dependency and poverty as a result of high level of unemployment, which is about 35%, and not taking into account the share of future generations, whether in the investment and saving process.”

The Expert called for family planning, which is the basic nucleus of society, so it is necessary to work on raising awareness of the process of family planning and its number, as well as providing adequate housing and urging the building of a rational budget for the family and the sustainability of human development in education and health, that is, providing basic needs, and this cannot be done without providing the future financial resources necessary for such an environment in which the Iraqi family grows and its members have been involved in developing the agricultural, industrial, educational and knowledge sectors and exploiting oil resources to cover the requirements of massive population growth and the engineering splitting of Iraqi families
