Baghdad The independent politician Thaer Munir Al-Zubaidi confirmed that the water file is the most prominent file for any country because of its importance to the national security.
In a press statement, he called on Turkey and Iran not to exploit the water file with Iraq for political purposes that harm good neighborly relations and pose a direct threat to water security in Iraq.
Al-Zubaidi said that Iraq, with its successive governments after 2003, considers the water file with the upstream countries, Turkey and Iran, a matter of top priority, far from any crises that arise with the two neighboring countries.
He added that the two countries should help Iraq in light of its current conditions and not reduce its share of the Tigris, Euphrates and tributaries, which some exploit for negative purposes trying to affect Iraq’s relations with them.
Al-Zubaidi explained that the government should work to ensure Iraq’s share of water in light of the clear desire not to create new crises. He called on Turkey and Iran not to exploit this file for other purposes.
