An MP Warns Against The Return Of Sectarianism To The Iraqi Street

Baghdad The MP of Al-Fateh bloc, Amer Al-Fayez, warned against the return of sectarianism and the 2006 page to the Iraqi street, stressing: “Some people overturn strange and old historical matters and link them to our present to ignite sectarianism again.”

Al-Fayez said in a statement to the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA): “Those who stir up these issues are trying to tear apart Iraqi unity and restore sectarianism to the Iraqi street,” noting: “Those who want to demolish the statue of Abu Jaafar Al-Mansour are extremists, and it is an irresponsible act.”

He explained: “Abu Jaafar Al-Mansour represents a certain historical period in the history of Iraq, and he is the builder of Baghdad, and it is not permissible to destroy his statue,” stressing: “There are two parties, one party links these matters to the return of sectarianism, and the other party wants to destroy paganism and idolatry, and the two parties are extremists and nothing more.”
