Arab Parliament Speaker Denounces International Silence on Gaza Situation

Baghdad - Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Asoumi, the Speaker of the Arab Parliament, today expressed his strong condemnation and surprise at the international community's silence regarding the ongoing crisis in the Gaza Strip. His statement was made during a significant meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council countries in Qatar.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, during his speech at the seventeenth meeting of the heads of the Shura and Representative Councils of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Al-Asoumi emphasized the immense responsibility that lies with the leaders of the Arab countries in addressing this crisis. He highlighted the crucial role of the Arab Parliament in supporting the efforts of Arab leaders to achieve a ceasefire and facilitate the delivery of necessary humanitarian aid to Gaza. Al-Asoumi stressed the need to break the international silence on what he described as brutal aggression in the region.

Furthermore, Al-Asoumi pointed out the growing importance of parliamentary diplomacy in today’s world. He noted its supportive and complementary role to official diplomacy, particularly in defending critical Arab issues, with a specific emphasis on the Palestinian issue. His remarks underscore the increasing concern and calls for action within the international community regarding the situation in Gaza.
