Australia announces construction of new US military bases in its south

Baghdad Australian Defense Minister Peter Dutton announced today, Friday, that new US military and air bases will be built in the southern Australian regions.

“Thousands of American soldiers are currently undergoing military training at the military base in the northern lands, but the number of US air and ground forces will increase seriously,” Dutton told Channel 9 News.

He added that the new military sites to be built in the southern regions of his country, will expand the capabilities of local industries and allow creating new job opportunities for Australians.

He noted the expansion of the capabilities of the two Australian air bases located on the east coast of the country.

“There is talk of transporting various types of aircraft, including bombers and reconnaissance aircraft … which will be stationed at the military airports in Richmond (50 km northwest of Sydney) or Amberley (50 km southwest of Brisbane),” Dutton said.

He explained, “The military cooperation between Australia and the United States will expand thanks to the establishment of the infrastructure to serve the American ships and submarines in Australia… and the organization of the logistics of joint military operations in the region.”
