BAGHDAD / Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull promised a close visit to Iraq and meet with officials in Baghdad as part of his country's efforts to support Iraq in its war on terrorism.
A statement by the Foreign Ministry today said, the Iraqi ambassador to Australia Hussein Mehdi Amiri met Australian Prime Minister on the sidelines of the celebration of the national day of Australia.
The Ambassador talked with Australian Prime Minister about the victories achieved by the Iraqi forces (army, police, anti-terrorism, PMF, Peshmerga and the sons of the tribes) against terrorist Daesh gangs in Mosul, stressing the desire of these forces on the safety of civilians in the right side of the city of Mosul, as being taken human shields by Daesh .
For his part, Australian Prime Minister promised to visit Iraq and meet with officials in Baghdad, as part of his country's efforts in supporting the international coalition supporting Iraq in its war on terror gangs.
