The President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, Bafel Talabani, discussed today, Wednesday, with the Syrian Ambassador Sattam Jadaan Al-Dandah the general situation in Iraq and the region.
The Patriotic Union of Kurdistan website stated that Talabani received the Syrian ambassador at the house of the late President Mam Jalal in Baghdad. During the meeting, emphasis was placed on strengthening historical relations between the Patriotic Union Of Kurdistan and the Kurdistan Region on one hand and Syria on the other. They also discussed the general situation in Iraq and the region and the continuation of efforts to solve problems and maintain stability.
Regarding the importance of stability in the region and steps to confront terrorism, Talabani said, according to the website: “Expanding the horizons of military and intelligence cooperation will be an important factor in the success of the efforts made to protect security and stability and confront the remnants of terrorists.”
Regarding the situation in Syria and the latest political developments there, Talabani stressed that the peaceful solution to the problems and a return to dialogue and understanding is the only way to address the problems and overcome the challenges, and we, in turn, will be cooperative and supportive in achieving this goal.
For his part, the Syrian ambassador referred to the role and position of President Mam Jalal in building the foundations of the historical relationship between Syria and the Kurdistan region.
