Basra Is Free Of Radioactive Contamination

Basra The local Basra government announced that the province is free of radioactive contamination.

The second deputy governor of Basra, Durgham Al-Ajwdy, said during a conference in the governorate’s office that: “It was officially announced that Basra was free of radioactive contamination with depleted uranium.”

He added: “The announcement is the result of exceptional efforts that included the treatment and transfer of quantities of radioactive contaminated materials to a remote and safe site after they posed a great danger to the safety of citizens.”

He stated: “A team from the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment, in cooperation with the local government, removed all pollutants and sent them to fully secured storage places from the risk of any radioactive leakage in the future
