Basra Operations Command: Creating A (Strike) Force To Deter Clan Conflicts

Basra The commander of Basra operations, Major General Ali Abdul-Hussein Al-Majidi, announced the creation of a (strike) force to confront, eliminate or limit clan conflicts.

The Operations Commander said in a press statement: “After studying the security reality of Basra sector, it was found that Basra is one of the best safe governorates, were it not for clan conflicts, which became the preoccupation of the security forces, and reflected a negative image of Basra Governorate, so it was decided to create a force capable of confronting and eliminating clan conflicts or limiting them.”

He added, “The local government in Basra Governorate is working seriously on installing surveillance cameras, which is one of the most important security projects,” stressing: “The security forces are very keen to ensure protection for citizens during the coming period that will witness the parliamentary elections.”

With regard to drug control, the Operations Commander indicated to work with the relevant authorities to find infrastructure capable of closing the outlets for importing narcotics into Iraqi territory
