Commission Of Integrity Arrests Diwaniyah Health Department Officials On Charges Of Excessive Purchase Of Medical Supplies

Baghdad The staff of the Investigation Department of the Federal Integrity Commission arrested the head and members of the Procurement Committee in Diwaniyah Health Department, accused of exaggerating the purchase of medical supplies.

Speaking about the details of the operation, which was carried out based on a judicial note, the commission’s investigation department stated in a statement that the commission’s investigation office in Diwaniyah had received information that included a procurement committee in the health department of maintaining the over-purchasing of medical materials, and after conducting investigations, a team of the commission’s investigation office in the governorate arrested the head and members of the committee.”

The department added that the operation, which was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code, also resulted in the seizure of purchase transactions.

It added, that the seized materials proved the purchase of (Vaseline) for the amount of (48) million dinars and in the amount of (1200) tons and two hundred kilograms, noting that these priorities also revealed the purchase of pendulum (suppositories) at an amount of (49) million dinars, stressing that the purchase process was marred by a clear exaggeration in the prices of these materials.

The department added that the seizure report in the process was written duly, and presented it, along with the accused, and the seized documents to the judge of the investigative court specialized in integrity issues in the governorate to take appropriate legal measures.

The commission had announced in mid-May that it had seized a voucher of exchange in the amount of (50) million dinars granted to the committee to carry out work in Al-Diwaniyah Hospital, pointing out that the committee did not carry out the work, although the advance was granted in September 2021, it also did not provide any papers to settle the advance in contravention of the instructions for carrying out works in a “trust” manner.
