Baghdad US President Joe Biden congratulated Iraq on the success of the Baghdad Summit for Cooperation and Partnership.
A White House statement quoted Biden as saying: I congratulate the Iraqi government for hosting a successful regional summit, and we seek to reduce tensions between neighboring countries.
Biden added: We will continue to stand by Iraq and work for greater stability throughout the Middle East.
He continued: When Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi and I met in the Oval Office last month, we discussed Iraq’s important role in the region and the significant efforts led by the Government of Iraq, including the Kurdistan Regional Government, to improve and strengthen relations between Iraq and its neighbors.
He said: Diplomacy should be the first tool of our foreign policy, and we are grateful to have partners who share this vision.
He added: We are committed to strengthening our bilateral relations with Iraq under the Strategic Framework Agreement.
