Darjal: We got the money to contract with a foreign coach

Baghdad  The Minister of Youth and Sports, Adnan Darjal, confirmed that he had obtained the financial funds from the government to contract with a foreign coach at a high level.

Darjal told the National Iraqi News Agency (NINA) that he spoke with Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi during the cabinet meeting and obtained the green light to contract with a high-level foreign coach to lead the national team in the decisive qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

He indicated that the sums of money for the contract of the former Slovenian coach Katanic were available, and it is hoped that it will be transferred to the coach within the next ten days, along with a letter of thanks and appreciation for the efforts made by the coach during his work and leading the team to the final qualifiers.

He pointed out that the coming days will witness a contract with a coach capable of taking responsibility for the national team, calling on local coaches, the media and the masses to support the coach in order to achieve the Iraqi dream of reaching the World Cup again.

It is noteworthy that the former Slovenian coach Katanic officially apologized for continuing the journey and leading the team in the final qualifiers.
