A workshop entitled “Sustainable Building Strategies” was held by Department of Architecture at Faculty of Engineering, Koya University, with partnership of General Directorate of Human Development, Ministry of Planning, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the workshop conducted at the Kurdistan Institute for Public Administration Hall in Erbil.

On Wednesday, November 12, 2022, in the presence of Asst. Prof. Dr. Galawezh Bakr Bapir, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Dr. Wezha Hawez Baiz, Head the Department of Architecture, Asst.Prof.Dr. Rahel Khalid Ibrahim, Head of the Engineering Faculty Research Center, Dr. Chro Ali Hama Radha, head of the Sustainable Building Research Program, in partnership with the General Directorate of Human Development of the Ministry of Planning, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the workshop was held.

This workshop was held in the framework of co-ordination and developing Koya University’s relations with the governmental institutions of Kurdistan Region with the aim of building a bridge communication, so that the related parties of the government can help achieve the goals of the research program Faculty of Engineering is by reducing the negative effects of buildings on the surrounding environment, and providing a peaceful, comfortable and healthy environment inside the buildings by trying to reduce the use of energy and protect by using alternative energy such as solar and wind energy.

During the workshop, research was presented in several panels as follows:

3- Dr. Wezha Hawez Baiz ” The Evaluation of a Residential High-rise Building
