Baghdad Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi reiterated the importance of coordinating work with international parties supporting the implementation of the upcoming elections, by assigning the work of the Electoral Commission and providing it with international observers.

Al-Kadhimi said, during his meeting with British Foreign Minister Dominic Raab and his accompanying delegation, that “the signing of the document of strategic political cooperation between the two countries is a culmination of the development that the bilateral relationship witnessed,” expressing his appreciation for Britain’s position in support of Iraq in its war on terrorism, and his welcome to the British government’s support for Iraq’s efforts in the field of economic reform.

The meeting, according to a statement by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, discussed bilateral relations and ways to enhance them, especially in the post-military cooperation phase within the international coalition to defeat ISIS, with the aim of developing economic, cultural and health cooperation, in addition to cooperation in the investment field, and providing appropriate conditions for major British companies to work in Iraq.

Raab conveyed the greetings of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson to the Iraqi government and people, reiterating the United Kingdom’s full support for Iraq and the government’s efforts to impose the rule of law and stability, as well as support for its growing regional role in mitigating conflicts and giving precedence to the logic of wisdom instead of continuing conflicts.

The British Minister indicated Iraq’s leading role regionally is evidence of the Iraqi government’s future vision of the nature of stability, calming factors and ways to enhance them in the region.”
