Baghdad Head of the National Wisdom Movement, Ammar Al-Hakim, stressed the importance of developing bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States.

A statement from his office said that Al-Hakim received the American ambassador in Baghdad, Matthew Tueller, and they discussed bilateral relations between Baghdad and Washington and ways to strengthen them, holding early elections on time, providing electoral security and international monitoring to ensure their transparency.

Al-Hakim indicated that “Iraq pays attention to its foreign relations in terms of common interests and respect for its sovereignty,” stressing “the importance of developing relations between Iraq and the United States, and focusing on the economic and service aspects more.”

He stressed the need for early elections to be held on time, with the preparation of the requirements and conditions for their success, foremost of which is electoral security, so that their outcomes would express the aspirations and desires of citizens.
