Egypt.. A container ship ran aground in the Suez Canal and four tugboats were pushed to deal with it

Baghdad / NINA /- The Head of the Suez Canal Authority in Egypt, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, announced that the Authority sent four tugboats to deal with the delinquency of a container ship during its transit through the canal.

Rabie stated that the sea rescue work is continuing to deal with the delinquency of the container ship “MSC ISTANBUL” as it crossed the canal as part of the southern convoy on its journey from Malaysia to Portugal.

The head of the Authority stated that as soon as the main navigation control center received notification of the ship’s delinquency in the kilometer 78 channel numbering, four tugboats were immediately pushed to float the ship.

Lieutenant General Osama Rabie sent a message of reassurance that the navigation traffic in the canal would not be affected by this emergency situation, as all ships coming from the north direction crossed as usual, and the navigation movement coming from the south direction was organized by diverting ships from the western channel to the eastern channel.

Rabie stressed that the Authority possesses the necessary rescue expertise and the necessary navigational and technical insurance capabilities to deal professionally with potential emergencies./ End
