Baghdad Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that his country will not allow Makhmour to be used as an “incubator for terrorism.”
“On behalf of my nation, I would like to thank all my friends who contributed to this successful operation and we will not allow the treacherous and separatist organization to use Makhmour as an incubator of terrorism, and we will continue to drain terrorism from its source,” Erdogan wrote in a tweet on Twitter today.
He added, “Here, I want to convey good news to our nation. Salman Bozkir, nicknamed (Dr. Hussein), the first director of the PKK terrorist organization and the general director of Makhmour, was neutralized by the heroes of our National Intelligence Service yesterday,” he said.
Yesterday, Saturday, three people were killed in a bombing of a camp in Makhmour, Erbil Governorate.
The official of the Peshmerga forces in Makhmour-Kwer axis, Sirwan Barzani, told the Kurdish Rudaw media network that “the air attack took place at 13:10 this afternoon on Makhmour camp,” noting that confirmed information indicates that the attack resulted in the death of 3 people.
He added that the attack was carried out by a drone, and targeted a PKK security checkpoint that had been set up a few days ago near a kindergarten.
