Finishing the rehabilitation and maintenance of the floating dock (Ajnadeen)

Baghdad The staff of the General Company for Ports of Iraq completed the rehabilitation and maintenance of the floating dock (Ajnadeen), and the floating dock was lowered to the water on a trial basis today, Monday.

The Ministry of Transport stated, “the reason for the maintenance of the basin is the appearance of depressions on the outer body of the tanks and the perpetuation of the ribs and the internal joints of the tanks (3,4,5), which required opening and rehabilitating them again.”

It is noteworthy that the floating dock (Ajnadeen) was made in Japan in 1965 with a length of 117 m, a width of 30 m, and a height of 11.5 m. It contains (6) tanks, and a tonnage amounted to 4500 tons at the beginning of its manufacture, while its tonnage is currently only 200 tons.
