Baghdad Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein affirmed that legal penalties will be applied to all those who committed criminal terrorist acts against the Iraqi people in accordance with the Iraqi laws and constitution.
A Foreign Ministry statement said, “The Minister received the Under-Secretary-General for Combating Terrorism Affairs, Vladimir Voronkov, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, and discussed with him the efforts made by the Iraqis in their war against ISIS terrorist gangs, in addition to the international support provided to Iraq and the importance of strengthening cooperation and coordination with all countries of the world to confront the common global threat of terrorism.”
The Minister affirmed that Iraq is at the forefront of countries that have fought terrorism and achieved great victories, expressing its readiness to cooperate with the international bodies concerned with combating terrorism in order to strengthen efforts aimed at combating this dangerous scourge and eliminating it once and for all.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs added that Iraq is following with great interest the issue of al-Hol camp, which includes foreign fighters of various nationalities, as well as women and children, stressing that legal penalties will be applied to anyone who has committed criminal terrorist acts against the Iraqi people in accordance with the Iraqi laws and constitution, calling on the countries concerned the need to assume its responsibility to end this file.”
For his part, Under-Secretary-General Vladimir Voronkov praised Iraq’s efforts to combat terrorism, expressing his readiness to support Iraq in its efforts to completely eliminate terrorism
