– Minister of Foreign Affairs Fuad Hussein stressed the need to maintain bilateral meetings, exchange experiences, enhance cooperation with Spain and benefit from Spanish expertise in various sectors, extending an invitation, on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament, to Speaker of the House of Representatives, Meritxell Batet, to visit Iraq.
A statement by the ministry stated that “Hussein met with the Speaker of the Spanish House of Representatives, Meritxell Batet and the minister presented a summary of the current situation in Iraq and the region and the challenges facing the Iraqi government.
The Minister praised the support of the European Union, including Spain, to send observers during the upcoming elections. He also stressed the need to maintain bilateral meetings, exchange experiences, enhance cooperation with Spain, and benefit from Spanish expertise in various sectors. He invited Meritxell Batet on behalf of Parliament Speaker to visit Iraq.
For her part, Meritxell Batet welcomed the minister, stressing the importance of this visit, which contributes to strengthening bilateral relations and mutual coordination, and stressed the importance of continuing cooperation and activating joint files, expressing her thanks and happiness for responding to the invitation in a timely manner.
