Germany Extends The Mission Of Its Forces In Iraq

Baghdad The German government agreed, today, Wednesday, to extend the mission of its forces in Iraq until next November.

German government spokesman Steffen Seibert said during a press conference in Berlin that the decision still required the approval of the country’s parliament (Bundestag).

“The government has decided to continue this mission until October 31, 2022, and up to 500 soldiers can participate in it,” Steffen Seibert said.

The German soldiers present in Iraq as part of an international mission to combat ISIS resumed in January 2020 the mission of training the Iraqi armed forces.
