Baghdad  The governor of Dhi Qar, Ahmed Al-Khafaji, announced that the decision to dismiss him from his position belongs to the higher administrative authorities in the country, stressing that the investigative committees will continue their work to uncover the circumstances of the fire incident at Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital in Nasiriyah.

Al-Khafaji said, in a press conference today, Thursday, “The law must be applied against everyone, and no one is exempt from this matter, and we ask the tribal elders to call their children to obey the law, and not violate it,” noting that “there are malicious hands seeking to destabilize security and disorder in the governorate, because the people of Dhi Qar are always proactive in protecting the homeland.”

Regarding the demands for his dismissal, Al-Khafaji commented, “I came to this position with a mandate from the people, and the process of my dismissal remains with the higher administrative authorities,” calling on the people of Dhi Qar not to be drawn into false statements, noting that “there are pages that seek to stir up sedition among the people of the governorate.” .

On the demonstrations taking place in the governorate, Al-Khafaji explained that “the demand for rights is a legitimate right for all, and it should not be at the expense of the public interest, such as cutting off roads or disrupting the work of departments.”

Regarding the fire incident at Imam Hussein Hospital, the governor of Dhi Qar confirmed that “the investigative committees are continuing to work to uncover the circumstances of the accident, by listening to the witnesses who survived the accident, or calling the health personnel.”

He added, “Today, a government committee will arrive to investigate the incident to find out its circumstances, and it has extensive experience in this field, and we do not favor one possibility over another, and we are waiting for the results of the investigation to be announced,” while referring to “calling specialized committees from Baghdad to uncover the unknown bodies and have advanced devices to identify them”.

He continued, “There is a real tendency from the federal government to support the governorate, and they have listened to all the demands of the local governorate government and promises to provide job opportunities for young people.”
