Baghdad Minister of Youth and Sports Adnan Darjal confirmed today, Monday, that the Executive Office of the Federations of the Arab Gulf States decided to postpone the 25th Gulf Championship scheduled in Basra until 2023.
Darjal said, according to a statement by the ministry: “The Executive Office of the Gulf Football Associations held a meeting via internet, which resulted in the postponement of the 25th Gulf Championship, to January of 2023, with Iraq and Basra specifically retaining the right to organize the tournament naturally as it was approved “.
He added, “The meeting set the thirtieth of June 2022 as a deadline for completing all the requirements of the championship, provided that the engineering inspection committees continue with Iraq in this regard,” noting that “Iraq has fulfilled all the requirements and will gain more time to prepare it in the best way.”
The tournament was scheduled to be held in November of this year 2021
