BAGHDAD, IRAQ President of the Supreme Islamic Council Hammam Hamoudi said that “Iraq and Iran are in one front against the threat of terrorism,” referring to his rejection of any American presence in the region.

A statement issued by his press office said that Hamoudi met with the advisor of the leader of the Islamic revolution Ali Akbar Velayati and his accompanying delegation in the presence of the head of the Fatah alliance Hadi al-Amiri.

“The two sides agreed to reject any US military presence in the region,” the statement said.

“The strategic relations between the two countries are crucial to the future of the entire Middle East region,” the statement quoted Velayati as saying, expressing the hope that bilateral relations will witness a broader level of activating areas of common interest, congratulating successive victories to defeat Iraq against Daesh./ End
