A handover ceremony took place on Monday at the Ministry of Energy and Water between Caretaker Minister Dr. Raymond Ghajar and newly appointed Minister Dr. Walid Fayyad, in the presence of Ministry director generals and senior staff.

In his delivered word, Minister Fayyad thanked outgoing Minister Ghajar for his efforts as he assumed his position at a critical and difficult stage.

The newly appointed Minister said, “I am sure that the responsibility is huge… As a Lebanese citizen, I consider it my duty to work and save my country, and as such I have accepted to assume this responsibility.”

Addressing all the Lebanese, Minister Fayyad indicated, “We must counter despair together… We will work together, all the Lebanese, to restore hope to our country, and we look forward to a positive approach towards us.”

In turn, Ghajar wished the new Minister all success, and listed his achievements during his term in office

The outgoing Minister also disclosed that the first shipment of Iraqi fuel will arrive within days to Lebanon to feed the electricity plants, which will provide an additional 4 hours of power supply.
