House Speaker Discusses With His Jordanian Counterpart Ways To Strengthen Bilateral Relations

Baghdad Parliament Speaker Muhammad al-Halbousi, accompanied by a parliamentary delegation, met today, Monday, with his Jordanian counterpart Abdel Moneim al-Awdat in the Jordanian capital, Amman.

Al-Halbousi and his accompanying delegation held a meeting at the headquarters of the Jordanian Parliament, which dealt with ways to strengthen bilateral relations, the continuation of joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries in the fields of security, politics and economy, support for investment and investors in both countries, and cooperation in the health field to overcome the Coronavirus pandemic crisis.

The talks emphasized the importance of parliamentary action to support the outcomes of the tripartite summit, bilateral cooperation to enhance parliamentary diplomacy, joint coordination and unification of positions on crucial issues in all international forums.

Al-Halbousi appreciated the Kingdom’s and King Abdullah II’s support for Iraq in facing challenges, consolidating bilateral work ties, and cooperating in all fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples to achieve development and stability.

For his part, the Speaker of the Jordanian House of Representatives expressed that the position of His Majesty and the Jordanian people was, is and will remain supportive of Iraq, the unity of its people and its sovereignty over its entire territory. On behalf of the people and the Jordanian House of Representatives, he congratulated the Iraqi people and the Iraqi forces on their ability to confront terrorism and achieve victory. He also affirmed the Kingdom’s support for the Democracy operation in Iraq and the upcoming early parliamentary elections.
