Human Rights Commission Calls For Celebrating The National Day of Mass Graves To Commemorate Brutal Crimes Committed Against Iraqi People

Baghdad A member of the Human Rights Commission, Fadel Al-Gharawi, called on the government and all state institutions to celebrate the National Day of Mass Graves, as a reminder of the brutal crimes committed against the Iraqi people.

In a press release, Al-Gharawi said: “The mass grave crimes that were committed during the former regime and were re-perpetrated by” ISIS “terrorist gangs are genocide crimes whose basis was sectarian, religious, ethnic and national.”

Al-Gharawi called on the government and all state institutions to celebrate this day and shed light on this heinous crime and the sacrifices of the martyrs and to expedite the completion of the opening of all mass graves, to conduct DNA matching with the families and to redress the victims through the inclusion of the martyrs in the Martyrs Foundation Law and the support of the mass graves team with financial and human resources to accomplish its tasks in opening all graves and holding international conferences to define these crimes and to present and prosecute all the perpetrators who carried them out and bring them to justice.
