In cooperation with the Syndicate of Journalists… Launching the “Radio Training” project for UNESCO Iraq and the French Embassy

Baghdad It was announced in the capital, Baghdad, today, Thursday, the launch of the project “Voices of Peace to Promote Coexistence in Areas Liberated from ISIS Through Local Radios”, in the presence of the French Chargé d’Affairs in Baghdad Jean-Christophe, and Head of Freedom of Expression Projects at UNESCO Iraq Zia Thabet and in cooperation with the Iraqi Journalists Syndicate.

UNESCO implements intensive training for broadcasters from the governorates of (Mosul, Anbar and Salah al-Din) on the concepts of peace building through local radios over a period of five days with live experience on Baghdad Radio and Al Dakhiliyah Radio.

The trainings will focus on building the capacities of “editors, presenters, producers and radio correspondents” with the concepts of conflict and conflict analysis and how to build peace through local radio stations in those governorates and to enhance social cohesion, coexistence and social reconciliation.

UNESCO will also implement for the period 2023-2024 a number of trainings for radio stations in those governorates and the Kurdistan region, followed by the launch of grants for distinguished radio stations to produce content that takes into account the concepts of peace building in areas liberated from ISIS, with a focus on the issues of the displaced.
