Baghdad Minister of Interior Othman Al-Ghanimi ordered the formation of an investigative council headed by the Director General of Counter-Terrorism to investigate the circumstances of the incident of accusing a person of killing his wife in Babylon Governorate.
The media office of the Minister of Interior stated: “In order to stand and reveal the circumstances of a person’s accusation of killing his wife, it was found that she was alive in Babylon Governorate, and to reach the detailed facts on the matter and in accordance with the provisions of Article (6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Internal Security Forces No. 17 of the year 2008, the Minister of Interior Othman Al-Ghanimi ordered the formation of an investigative council headed by the Director General of Counter-Terrorism in the Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency, with the membership of the Director of Combating Crime in Baghdad and a representative of the legal department, provided that the investigation council completes its work during a specified period together with the final report and decision.
The Minister of the Interior had ordered the detention of the investigation officer in the case and all those concerned in it, in addition to directing the Minister to all investigation and crime-fighting officers in a conference at the Ministry’s headquarters to fully abide by the principles of human rights and not to violate them or to extract confessions by force and by methods unrelated to the Ministry of the Interior that left years ago, indicating that the negligent will fall under penalty of legal accountability, these individual and personal actions cannot pollute the record of the Ministry’s heroes in their quest to achieve security and stability, combat crime and terrorism and enforce law
