Iran: Presidential Elections Will Be Held Between Four Candidates Only, And The Campaign Period Has Ended

Baghdad The Iranian Ministry of Interior announced that the competition in the presidential elections to be held tomorrow, Friday, will be between four candidates only.

The Iranian Ministry of Interior indicated in a statement that the presidential candidate, Ali Reza Zakani, had informed the ministry of his decision to withdraw from running for the presidential elections on Thursday.

The two candidates, Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh and Saeed Jalili, also announced on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively, their withdrawal from the presidential race.

In its statement, the Iranian Ministry of Interior stated that the competition in the elections will be between the four remaining candidates, who are: Mohsen Rezaei Mir Qaed, Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, Seyyed Amir Hossein Qazi Zadeh Hashemi and Abdel Nasser Hemmati.

It is noteworthy that the thirteenth Iranian presidential elections will be held tomorrow, Friday, and will be held in conjunction with the elections for municipal and village councils, parliamentary supplementary elections, and supplementary elections for the Assembly of Experts.

According to Iranian media, at seven o’clock this morning, Thursday, local time in Iran (2:30 a.m. GMT), the campaign period for the presidential elections, municipal and village councils, the Islamic Consultative Assembly and the Assembly of Experts for the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran ended.

It is noteworthy that the number of voters is 59 million 310 thousand and 307 people, including one million and 392 thousand and 148 people who have entered the legal age (18 years) to cast their votes for the first time.
