Iraq And Azerbaijan Discuss Strengthening Bilateral Relations

Baghdad  The spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Al-Sahaf met the Azerbaijani Chargé d’Affairs in Iraq Naseer Mamdov, and discussed with him bilateral relations between Baghdad and Baku, within the framework of media coordination and capacity building.

According to a ministry statement, Al-Sahaf referred to the exchange of support between Iraq and Azerbaijan at the bilateral and multi-level levels.

Al-Sahaf stressed the need to build on the possible opportunities in popular diplomacy between the two friendly countries, expressing Iraq’s keenness on the stability and security of Azerbaijan. He extended his thanks and appreciation to the government and people of Azerbaijan for supporting Iraq in confronting terrorism, as well as for providing medical aid to confront the Coronavirus pandemic.

The two sides stressed the necessity of exchanging media experiences between the two ministries in several fields, cooperating in joint discourse, training media cadres, and exchanging visits between the two media offices.

For his part, the Azerbaijani Chargé d’Affairs praised the depth of the historical relations linking the two countries, which extend back more than thirty years, and added that we provided assistance to Iraq in the war against ISIS.
