Iraq and Saudi Arabia Discuss Activating MoU For Banking Sector And Investment Opportunities In Iraq

The Minister of Finance, Taif Sami, discussed with the Saudi Minister of Investment, Khaled Al-Falih, the activation of memorandums of understanding between the two countries related to the banking sector and investment opportunities in Iraq.

A statement by the Ministry of Finance stated that Sami met Al-Falih on the sidelines of the meetings of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Council in its fifth session held in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and they discussed common files in the fields of economy, money and investment, and openness towards developing partnership with the Kingdom in various sectors.

The meeting witnessed discussions, according to the statement, about consolidating relations between the two countries through developing mutual cooperation in the field of finance and economy, in addition to discussing the activation of memorandums of understanding signed between the two countries, especially with regard to the banking sector and investment opportunities in Iraq and facilitating entry requirements for Saudi investors.

Sami stressed the priority of raising the level of relations with the brothers in the Kingdom, and raising the level of strategic and investment relations to the highest levels, supporting and strengthening them in a way that serves the interests of the two countries and peoples in various fields.

According to the statement, a meeting of the joint business council between the two countries and the Saudi-Iraqi economic forum will be held on the sidelines of the session of the Coordinating Council, in the presence of a number of businessmen in the two countries.
