Iraq Calls on Concerned Countries To Deal With The Iraqi Citizens Stranded At The Borders In A Humane And Appropriate Manner

Baghdad  Iraq called on the concerned countries to the importance of assuming their responsibilities and the need to deal with Iraqi citizens stranded at the borders in a humane and decent manner and not to use any arbitrary or coercive measure against them.

A Foreign Ministry statement said, “Minister of foreign affairs Fuad Hussein received his Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. During the meeting, they discussed the progress of relations between Baghdad and Warsaw, and ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in all fields.”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to the efforts made by Iraq, which contribute to strengthening regional and international peace and security, because the stability and security of the region will reflect positively on peace and security in Iraq.

The two ministers also discussed coordinating efforts and enhancing cooperation between the two countries in order to reduce illegal immigration.

The minister stressed that Iraq has assumed its full responsibilities in curbing this phenomenon, pointing to the existence of criminal groups that exploit some citizens in order to smuggle them in exchange for huge sums, stressing that Iraq has taken many steps to stop migration.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs called on the countries concerned to the importance of assuming their responsibilities, and the need to deal with Iraqi citizens stranded at the borders in a humane and appropriate manner, and not to use any arbitrary or coercive measure against them.

For his part, the Polish Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau praised the pivotal and vital role that Iraq began to play in the Middle East through initiatives aimed at resolving disputes and differences between regional countries in the region, stressing his country’s support for the sovereignty and unity of Iraq, expressing his aspiration to strengthen economic relations between the two countries
